Egg Signateur Joan White is preparing to rev up her Philadelphia stomping grounds with an Iyengar workshopweekend hosted by Practice Yoga Studio. Her Senior Iyengar Yoga expertise will be partnered with the knowledge of yogic author Edwin Bryant, best known for his translation and commentary on the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali published in 2009. Together, the two will present an incredible combination of sutras and asanas from Friday, March 30 through Sunday, April 1.
While Joan tours throughout the year to offer various workshops around the country and the world, the Philadelphia favorite will remain in the city for this one. As the director of the B.K.S. Iyengar School of Central Philadelphia, her expertise has been recognized time and time again by the city; she has been named the Yoga Doyenne of Philadelphia by the Philadelphia Magazine, and has been awarded Best of Philly for yoga three times.
Edwin Bryant received his PhD in Indic Languages and Cultures from Columbia University. He later went on teach both at Columbia and Harvard University, and he has been teaching at Rutgers University since 2001 where he has been a professor of Hindu religion and philosophy.
Together, Edwin and Joan are sure to offer what will be a special weekend.
Friday night Edwin introduces the weekend with a sutras lecture from 6:00 – 8:30PM. Saturday Joan will lead asana practice from 9:00 – 11:00AM, followed by Edwin speaking on the sutras from 11:30 – 2PM and from 3:00 – 5:30PM. The weekend will close out on Sunday with Joan’s asana practice from 9:00 – 10:00AM and a final sutras discussion from 10:30 – 1:30 PM.
Ticket prices are discounted if purchased prior to March 22. Participants may choose to purchase single-day passes, as well as choose only to purchase a ticket for Edwin Bryant or for Joan White. See this flier for more information about participation options.
