6 Ways to Reduce Back Pain

Published by Three Minute Egg on 8th Jun 2010

Back pain can be debilitating. It can hurt whenever you move; it can cause sleep loss; and it can stop you from living your life as fully as you deserve. Yoga is a great way to relieve the pain, and a combination of practices to holistically reduce or eliminate the pain altogether can do even more. Here are a few things we’ve found really helpful.

  1. Be conscious of your posture in your everyday life and correct it when you’re sitting, when you’re moving, and especially when you’re doing any back exercises. Next time you’re seated at your computer, try placing a couple of Eggs behind your back — we recommend the mid-back.
  2. Try gentle, restorative yoga. Learn to target muscles that are tight and painful with careful stretches.
  3. Swim. It’s an excellent non-impact exercise that works all your muscles, but it’s particularly good for your back.
  4. Use a hot tub regularly, letting the jets of hot water gently massage your back. Similarly, get a quality massage from a licensed practitioner at least once a week.
  5. If it’s practical, do some light weight-training that focuses not only on the affected area but also the surrounding muscles. Proceed slowly and stop if you feel pain.
  6. Try stretching on your back over several Three Minute Eggs positioned below your shoulder blades. It’s an excellent, safe stretch — and it was the very first use of the product.

What are some ways you’ve found that work for you? We welcome your comments and ideas!
