We Love Yoga Festivals

Recapping our favorite yoga fests

Even though we’re halfway through 2015, now is the perfect time to save the date for this year's best yoga festivals. Yoga festivals are great for meeting the most knowledgeable and beloved yoga teachers, seeing amazing yoga demonstrations and checking out the newest yoga offerings. They also happen to be a ton of fun. We’ve attended many festivals over the years, to further our own practice as well as to share our love for Three Minute Egg® yoga props, and we’ve seen a lot of variations in the presentations.

All yoga festivals are not the same, so do your research before booking your trip. In our experience, the location of the fest is just as important as the speaker list. Here’s a round-up of some promising yoga festivals for the second half of 2015:

June Yoga Festivals

  • H’OMgrown Fest: Held in Pemberton, British Columbia on June 5–7, it features 15 instructors, a full schedule of classes, workshops and fun. Pemberton is a 2½-hour drive north of Vancouver.
  • Shasta Yoga Fest: This Mount Shasta, California, festival celebrates “life through yoga” with lots of teachers and a full slate of kirtan performances. It runs from June 5–7.
  • Wanderlust Snowshoe: Wanderlust produces yoga festivals throughout the world. This one, in West Virginia, happens June 5–7. Besides yoga, they have music, food and activities.
  • Yoga Festival Montreal: Also on June 5–7, this fest covers more than 30 styles of yoga with 50 hours of activities in beautiful Montreal, Quebec.
  • Hanuman Festival: Boulder, Colorado, hosts this popular yoga fest on June 11–14. It features yoga and music with some of our favorite teachers like Janet Stone and Annie Carpenter.
  • Esalen’s Yoga Festival: A yoga festival with an ocean view! From June 14–19, join Janet Stone, Sianna Sherman and others at the famed retreat in Big Sur.
  • Wanderlust Stratton: On June 18–21, the Wanderlust festival moves to Bondville, Vermont, in the Green Mountains of southwestern Vermont.
  • Breathe Yoga Festival: This outdoor yoga festival is held in City Park in Fort Collins, Colorado, on June 20–21. With music, yoga and vendors, you’ll find everything you need to immerse yourself in all things yoga.
  • Bhakti Fest Midwest: With great teachers and out-of-this-world kirtan (including Krishna Das), this fest in Madison, Wisconsin, on June 26–28 promises to be special.

July Yoga Festivals

  • Wanderlust Aspen-Snowmass: Wanderlust invades Aspen, Colorado, for a “four-day celebration of mindful living.” This fest takes place July 2–5.
  • Telluride Yoga Festival: From July 9–12, this Colorado town hosts a big annual event. In addition to yoga, you’ll find classes, outdoor activities and music in a beautiful summer setting.
  • Maine YogaFest: Portland, Maine, is the site of this festival that gets everyone outside for yoga, art, music and business. It’s on July 10–12.
  • Nantucket Yoga Festival: To really get away from it all, go to Nantucket Island on July 10–12. Yoga instructors will teach 40 workshops while vendors show you what’s new.
  • Moksha Festival: Los Angeles’ only yoga festival happens July 11–12. Yoga instructions, healing workshops, kirtan, dance and art in one packed weekend.
  • Wanderlust Squaw Valley: Same great fest, different location. This time it’s in North Lake Tahoe, California. Go on July 16–19.
  • cOMmon Grounds: Happening in Richmond, Minnesota, near Minneapolis, on July 24–26, this yoga and music festival offers classes, workshops and outdoor activities in an idyllic setting.
  • Northwest Yoga Feast: This event features yoga and food! Just outside Sandpoint, Idaho, 1½ hours from Spokane, on July 24–26, this event aims to inspire well-being and community-building.
  • Wanderlust Whistler: Yet another Wanderlust event, this one takes place in Whistler, British Columbia, on July 30–August 3. Whistler’s on the way to Pemberton.

August Yoga Festivals

  • Santa Fe Yoga Festival: This beautiful New Mexico city holds a fest that boasts 40 yoga teachers, presenters, kirtan, dance and more on August 6–9.
  • Love Yoga Fest: On August 14–16, this Hyannis, Massachusetts, yoga festival takes advantage of its Cape Cod location for a three-day yoga-centered experience.
  • I Am Yoga Festival: A yoga, art and music fest in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on August 15–16 features yoga classes for all ages and levels because it celebrates diversity.
  • Wanderlust Tremblant: This Wanderlust festival happens on August 20–23 in Tremblant, Quebec, which is just outside Montreal.
  • Big Bear Yoga Festival: This California event touts outdoor yoga and features music, seminars and meditation on August 21–23.
  • Sat Nam Fest East: Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, hosts this yoga fest that includes music, workshops and vendors on August 26–30.
  • Iowa Yoga Festival: On August 28–30, Des Moines opens its doors for yoga classes, workshops and vendors.

September Yoga Festivals

  • Floyd Yoga Jam: Along with a lineup of music, this festival in Floyd, Virginia, over Labor Day Weekend (September 4–6), offers many teachers and camping options. Where’s Floyd? Not far from the Blue Ridge Parkway.
  • Evolvefest: On September 4–7, in Pottstown, Pennsylvania, this yoga fest features music, artists, healers and of course yoga teachers.
  • Bhakti Fest West: Held amidst the beauty of Joshua Tree, California, this event promises the “yoga and music experience of a lifetime.” On September 10–13, there’ll be yoga and kirtan to fill your days and nights.
  • Hamptons Yoga Fest: Bridgehampton, New York, is the site of this yoga festival on September 18–20. It promises yoga, music, nature and mindfulness.
  • Southeast Yoga Conference: This is the biggest yoga event in the Southeast. Held in Atlanta, Georgia, on September 25–27, the event boasts great teachers and workshops.

October Yoga Festivals

  • Ahimsa Yoga Festival: This yoga and music fest takes place on October 3–4 in Windham, New York, 2½ hours north of The City.
  • Moksha Festival Berkeley: For one day only (October 17) in this Northern California city by the bay, this yoga festival offers teachers, workshops, kirtan, dance and art.

November Yoga Festivals

  • ShriFest: On November 13–15, you can experience three days of yoga, music and art in Blue Mountain, Ontario, north of Toronto by Lake Huron.
  • Mahabhuta Yoga Festival: Pensacola, Florida, is the perfect place to be on November 20–22 for yoga, music and sun. It’s also kid-friendly.
